There is Hope by Pastor Kola Akinyemi

Text: Job 14:7

“For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again.”

Have you ever felt like life has cut you down? Perhaps you’ve experienced setbacks, disappointments, financial struggles, unanswered prayers, or seasons where everything seemed to be working against you. If that’s where you are today, I want you to hear this truth: there is hope.

Job 14:7 compares life to a tree that has been cut down. To the natural eye, the tree looks finished. Its beauty is gone, its strength is gone, and its future seems uncertain. Yet God says there is still hope because it can sprout again. In the same way, what appears broken, delayed, or lost in your life is not beyond God’s power to restore.

The first thing we must understand is that sometimes restoration is preceded by difficulty. Nobody likes the cutting process. We all want the testimony, but we often resist the trial. We want the breakthrough without the waiting, the miracle without the process. Yet throughout Scripture, God used seasons of testing to prepare His people for greater things. If you are facing challenges today, do not conclude that God has abandoned you. What looks like an ending may actually be preparation for a new beginning.

Secondly, hold on to your faith. Circumstances change, but God does not. His power has not diminished because your situation has become complicated. His promises remain true even when you cannot see evidence of them yet. Faith is not believing when everything is working perfectly; faith is trusting God when nothing around you makes sense. Refuse to allow temporary problems to weaken your confidence in an eternal God.

The next step is learning to wait. Waiting is difficult because it requires trust. We often want immediate answers, immediate solutions, and immediate results. But God works according to His timing. The night may feel long, but morning will come. The season of tears will not last forever. Every trial has an expiration date, and every season eventually changes. If God has spoken a promise over your life, do not give up because of a delay. Keep trusting Him. Your change is on the way.

Finally, cultivate quiet patience. Patience is not doing nothing; it is trusting God while continuing to move forward. It means refusing to fight every battle, refusing to respond to every criticism, and refusing to become discouraged by every obstacle. Sometimes God is doing His greatest work behind the scenes, in places you cannot see. While others focus on what has been lost, God is preparing what is next. Patience allows you to remain strong until His plan becomes visible.

Today, whatever challenge you are facing, remember this: the tree may have been cut down, but it still has hope. Your dreams may seem delayed, but there is hope. Your finances may be under pressure, but there is hope. Your family may be facing difficulties, but there is hope. As long as God is involved, your story is not over.

Prayer

Father, thank You because You are the God of hope and new beginnings. Strengthen every weary heart, renew every discouraged spirit, and let every season of waiting give birth to a season of testimony. May goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives, and may we walk into the new dawn You have prepared for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
